Alone

Alone in the dark
feel the night
slowly closing in
trembling softly
want to pull you near
shaking and aching
my hands are empty
filled with longing
pounding from within my soul
simply don’t know how or what to be
without you next to me
feel the night
tugging
pulling me in
bellows deeply of slumber
far off in the distance
I see
flashes of lightning
hear the crack of thunder
raindrops
pitter-patter
softly on the windowpane
hold me tightly
I scream
don’t want to let go
I don’t want you to leave
I linger gently
I want to breathe you in
I want to touch your soul
the way you have touched mine
when and where did you find the key to my heart
did you always know your touch would set off a fire in me
alone in this night
I wander
searching
for the man who completes my soul
I long to scream your name

forever etched
branded
scorched on my soul
