“The ink of a scholar is more holy than the blood of a martyr”
In recent weeks, I have been speaking about the Ag Museum and Windmill Lane and the projects currently underway (Jere & Patty Bruning Memorial Building and Windmill Museum.) Oh, who am I kidding? I talk about windmill projects all the time but do you know the origin of the vertical axle windmill? The history books may need a slight correction as Hero of Alexandria observed the earliest windmill in the 1st century AD. The construction allowed for the first observations of the first vertical-axle windmills in Sistan, Afghanistan, with the construction occurring around 634-644 AD. You are welcome! #historymysteries#historyrocks
And the most important part. We are raising money for the Windmill Museum which will house an exclusive windmill collection from a generous benefactor. You can always donate to the BCHS Hiawatha Community Foundation fund or you can donate exclusively to the Windmill Museum Go Fund Me page! https://www.gofundme.com/f/f6v68-windmill-museum…

A few accomplishments that you may not be aware of to whom we owe the credit for the brilliance! All languages were quickly deemed valuable during the 9th and 13th centuries and needed preservation! Therefore, scholars believed in safeguarding ALL languages (not one singular language but safeguarding ALL languages! Erecting a House of Wisdom where scholars could diligently work to preserve the languages, which included Turkish, Hebrew, and Latin languages, and later added the following languages Roman, Chinese, Persian, Egyptian, Greek, Byzantine, and Phoenician. As a girl who cultivates a journey of words daily exploring them in every possible way and finds them to be the most delicious word candy. Thank you from the bottom of this eternally grateful heart!
It was also their phenomenal dedication to recognizing the value of all history (thank you), including the work of Aristotle, the philosopher, and scientist (and in case you are wondering so much more.) Aristotle’s work is another historical treasure that would otherwise have been swept from the earth if not for the intervention. After the fall of Rome, Aristotle became well-known in the Islamic world. Great thinkers from the area include Avicenna (970-1037), Averroes (1126-1204), and Maimonides (1134-1204.). All of them revitalized Aristotle’s logical and scientific theories, which this appears as good a place as any to note that most of the work accomplished by Aristotle was written in lecture format, suggesting Aristotle was a TEACHER. The region can claim ownership of the discovery of Algebra (I will not be thanking you for that) and tremendous accomplishments in science, astronomy, chemistry, physics, mathematics, philosophy, medicine, and education. #historyrocks #aforestofwords #defendingmyzipcode #kindnessmypersonalbrandofglitter
