A year ago, my definition of social media became entirely different in July. I took a trip, in my perspective wholly changed. My brother had died, and I found what would nearly a year later be determined as an utterly innocent lump in my breast. At the time, I wasn’t entirely sure of its innocence! I got to take the trip of a lifetime, and then social media changed for me! Social media, for me now, is a connection. I love to get on my YouTube channel and share pieces of history, and I plan to develop my YouTube channel more where I do more interactive conversations. For now, it’s little flash videos of places that I love to see, and I plan to take more time visiting these places that I love and sharing them. So social media for me, other than getting on and sharing my videos, and I consider my WordPress blog kind of social media I get on to do my writing and share with the world and share my history mysteries; other than that, I kind of disconnected from other forms of social media because they didn’t seem as valued or essential in my life. I didn’t want to see the latest social drama unfold, so I chose not to look at it. So social media, for me, is an avenue to be expressive, and I try to disconnect from it entirely and plug into the real world, which is the truest form of social media!
