Father’s Day Wishes

It’s Father’s Day

And the only father 

I have alive 

is my father-in-law

And I love him 

I love his gentle presence 

He quietly observes

He gave years of his life to make my family’s lives better 

In an impossible situation

He loves everyone 

He wants to be a part of everything 

And yet he takes nothing

He loves buffets, although for the life of me

I don’t know why 

He worked as a chef 

So he can create culinary masterpieces 

It makes life a lot more precious when you stop

Pause 

And remember 

We only get one shot at the ones we treasure, so we have to make it count

Today

And everyday 

I am grateful 

For the love and for the people I love and have loved

To my fathers in heaven 

you are missed 

You are loved
