Umair tells me beautiful stories of life growing up in the village. As he shared these delightful treasures with me, I thought I needed to take them and elevate the stories so we always have them. I love his stories of how much Ami loved him. Umair told me how Ami would make him warm roti (bread) (delicious bread), and if they were not to his specifications, she would make them yummier and toastier for him. Once he was satisfied, Ami placed the roti on Umair’s plate. I love the story of her love and devotion to her children. I love Umair and don’t think I even show the world how much I adore his heart and our life together—Merry Christmas, everyone, for those who don’t hold the person they love tonight.
